About this Project

As principle contractor, D L Rhodes & Son were delighted to be part of the new build development on Woodborough Road in Mapperley.  

The project consists of a range of executive 4, 5 and 6 bedroom houses.  The range of eleven plot types gives the development character and a truly contemporary feel.

The intention of the Developer was to offer one of the very first city centre eco-villages to Nottingham and be a benchmark for future developments in the area.  The location breathed new life into a formally overgrown, neglected landscape that housed a former, partly derelict, public house.

The choice of brickwork was carefully selected to retain the existing charm of the old coach house.  The stonework creates character to the window sills, window heads and plinth and boundary courses together with the stone door surrounds.  The original internal design was changed to create more space and fluidity throughout each property.  Working closely with the architects the decision was taken to incorporate an additional bedroom to each property within the roof space and an orangery to the kitchen/dining areas.

Starting the process with a detailed heat loss assessment, a number of practical heating and heat source options had to be assessed and qualified.  Considering efficiency, budgets, installation processes, end users, and maintenance a joint conclusion agreed that a combination of Air Source Heat Pumps, Underfloor Heating, Multilayer Primary Press Fit Pipework, and Low Temperature Radiators were the most practical, cost effective and energy efficient for the project.
